Who is Caffè California?
We are an independent family-owned business run by Tony Moniz.
Tony Moniz has been involved in the food service industry for over 30 years. He received his training at the kitchens of the Taj Intercontinental Hotels and rose within the food and beverage industry where he handled the catering for a large British company serving in excess of 2400 meals a day. Tony has a broad knowledge of various cuisines including French, Italian, American, English, and Indian.
Tony has a degree in Hotel Administration and Food Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Management from St.Marys College in Moraga-California.
Tony and his wife, Melanie, have lived in the Walnut Creek area for over 21 years. They have deep roots in the community and are active volunteers in various local organizations including the Walnut Creek public schools where their two children attend.
Caffè California was born and officially opened for business in September of 2007. The business was opened by Michelle and Tom Dorrance with a vision of running a Certified Green Restaurant and is currently a Certified Green Business . As the new owner, Tony is passionate about this vision and looks to sustain and build upon an excellent foundation.
In addition to Tony, you may also run into Tony’s wife, Melanie, and their two children Nathan (18) and Jeremy (14). We are also very lucky to have a stellar staff of terrific hard working employees – Arnie, Socorro, Maria, and Viridiana.
