Who is Caffè California?
We are an independent family-owned business run by Michelle Dorrance. Michelle spent over 16 years in the corporate world dreaming about opening her own cafe. She has always had a passion for food and loves to cook and entertain, preparing and enjoying new foods with her family and friends. Michelle’s dream came true In the Spring of 2007. Michelle found the right opportunity at the right time and worked out a plan open her own cafe. It was important to Michelle that the cafe ‘do the right thing’ with respect the type of food it serves and how it treats the environment. So even before the first meal was served Michelle researched where to get the freshest produce and the finest local ingredients that are produced and grown locally, whenever possible.
Caffè California was born and officially opened for business in September of 2007. We quickly became a certified Green Restaurant by the Green Restaurant Association and a Certified Green Business by the Bay Area Green Business Program.

In addition to Michelle you may also run into Michelle’s husband Tom and her two children Michael (15) and Olivia (11). We are also very lucky to have a stellar staff of terrific hard working employees – Arnie, Socorro, Maria, Viridiana and Jessenia.
